Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) management is an effort that involves various aspects to maintain stable blood sugar levels and prevent complications. Diabetes patients experience difficulties in consistently applying control behaviors. One of the psychological factors that plays an important role in this matter is self-efficacy. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and blood sugar control behavior in type II diabetes mellitus patients at the Likupang Community Health Center. The research uses a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study consisted of 62 respondents using the purposive sampling technique. Data collection on self-efficacy and blood sugar control was conducted using a questionnaire and analyzed using the chi-square statistical test.  The research results show that the most common age group is 46-55 years old, with 28 respondents (45.2%), the most common gender is male, with 37 respondents (59.7%), the most common occupation is fishermen, with 29 respondents (46.8%), and the most common education level is high school, with 42 respondents (67.7%). The most common self-efficacy category was good, with 41 respondents (66.1%), and the most common blood sugar control category was also good, with 44 respondents (71%).The chi-square test results showed a p-value of 0.001, which is < α 0.05. Conclusion: There is a relationship between self-efficacy and blood sugar control behavior in type II diabetes mellitus patients at the Likupang Health Center. It is recommended that the health center enhance educational and health counseling programs for type II diabetes mellitus patients, with a focus on improving self-efficacy.
