Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (EIBF) is an important intervention in reducing neonatal morbidity and mortality; however, pregnant women’s readiness to implement it is still influenced by perceptual and belief-related factors. The objective of this final project was to analyze the effectiveness of Health Belief Model (HBM)–based education on pregnant women’s readiness to perform EIBF at BPM Ernita Pekanbaru in 2025. This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach involving 14 pregnant women, using HBM and EIBF readiness questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed an increase in the mean scores of all HBM constructs after the intervention, namely perceived susceptibility (from 3.43 to 6.71), perceived severity (from 4.93 to 6.50), perceived benefits (from 5.57 to 6.71), perceived barriers (from 3.71 to 6.36), cues to action (from 4.86 to 7.43), and self-efficacy (from 5.21 to 6.43). In addition, EIBF readiness increased from 8.00 to 10.50, with the paired t-test yielding a p-value of 0.000. This study demonstrates that HBM-based education is effective in enhancing positive perceptions, strengthening pregnant woman perceptions of susceptibility, severity, benefits, and self efficacy.while also encouraging readiness to take action and reducing perceived barriers to performing Early Initation of Breastfeeding. In conclusion,HBM-based education is profen to be effective in increasing pregnant women’s readness to implement EIBF.It is recommended that Health Belief Model-based education be continuously integrated into antenatal care services.
