Currently, there is no standardized pediatric examination procedure in Indonesia, despite children being highly vulnerable to ionizing radiation. This study aims to explore pediatric radiography practices and the strategies used by radiographers to address challenges in the field. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation at two type A hospitals in Pekanbaru City. Data were collected from radiographers' experiences in treating pediatric patients, including examination tips and tricks. The results showed that the key to a successful pediatric examination is parental involvement, which plays a role in calming the child and helping to restrain movement during imaging. Additional effective strategies include soothing the child with words, providing toys or entertainment, waiting for the child to fall asleep (for CT scans), and using cushions for comfort. For patient safety, radiation doses should be as low as possible. Examination rooms should be designed to be as comfortable and attractive as possible with bright decorations, and toys or reading material should be provided in the waiting room to help children feel comfortable. These findings emphasize the importance of standardization of procedures and a humanistic approach in pediatric radiographic examinations in Indonesia. ER -
